Going to the movies is like visiting a temple, because afterwards we see the world a little different than before. I love telling&nbsp;stories about characters who are confronted with supernatural mysteries, who glimpse into their own self-destructive abysses or fight against all odds to escape society’s moral chains. Drama, magical realism, and larger-than-life narratives. Vita Jan has been dedicated to filmmaking since 2008, with his works screened and awarded at national and international film festivals.&nbsp;His latest short THE RAT was screened at the Hof International Film Festival in 2025 and the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival 2025. His five-minute short film HAMMERTIME premiered internationally at the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in 2024, had its German premiere at the Hof International Film Festival in 2024, and screened in 2025 at the Oscar-qualifying Drama International Short Film Festival in Greece. In 2020, he won the Jury Prize at the Friedrichshafen Film Days for the co-directed short BEYOND THE TIDE, after the film celebrated its international premiere at the Oscar-qualifying IN THE PALACE Film Festival.&nbsp; From 2012 to 2016, he studied Film and Television Production at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam. His graduation film, METEORSTRASSE by Aline Fischer, screened in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section at the 2016 Berlinale and went on to be shown at more than 40 festivals worldwide. The short film AUSREICHEND, produced by him and directed by Isabel Prahl, won the First Steps Award in 2012, was shown at Hof, Rotterdam and&nbsp;Clermont-Ferrand.&nbsp; Since 2017, he has been working as a freelance editor. In addition to trailers and commercials (e.g., for Allianz, Mastercard, vivo), he has worked on the documentary series Bahnsinn Riedbahn&nbsp;(7 × 30 min / YouTube, 2024/25) and Die Wespe S03&nbsp; (6 × 24 min / Sky, 2023). Having worked in various roles (production, directing, editing, writing), he understands the needs and workflows of all departments.
