Movies are stories telling us about what it means to be “human”. Going to the movies is like visiting a temple, because afterwards we see the world a little different than before.

As a director, I write, direct and edit (used to produce) stories about characters who are confronted with supernatural mysteries, who glance into their own self-destructive abysses or fight against all odds to escape society’s moral chains. Drama, magical realism, bigger than life.

Jan Mocka (*1989, Cologne, Germany) has been writing, directing, producing and editing his own film projects since
2008. His films have been shown (some have been awared) at national and international film festivals, such as Berlinale, Sitges, In the Palace or Hof. 

From 2012 to 2016, he studied "Film and Television Production" at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, Potsdam, Germany.
While pursuing his own projects, he has been working as a freelance editor since 2017.
